2006年8月上旬，美國女歌手珍娜傑克森（Janet Jackson）對媒體透露了一件私事。她說以前有一次，她走進父母房間時，父母正在行房。當時她不懂男女之事，於是就去問她哥哥麥可傑克森（Michael Jackson）。她還對媒體提到她哥哥說：

英文the birds and bees是一句常用成語，直譯是「鳥兒和蜜蜂之事」，引申為「基本性知識」或「傳宗接代之事」。以前有一部名片叫「長日將盡」（Remains of the Days），名演員安東尼霍普金斯（Anthony Hopkins）在劇中是飾演英國一家著名宅邸的僕役長。其中有一幕，是宅邸主人在吩咐僕役長，要他去教一個晚輩有關男女的基本性知識。劇中對白就曾提到the birds and the bees這個成語。再來看以下例句：
