英文表達「終結」，常見方式至少有以下六種：

一. 用end

The arguing has ended.

( 這場爭論結束了。)

When will the picnic end ?

( 這場野宴何時結束 ? )

二. 用 stop

Stop crying !

( 別哭了 ! )

He has stopped smoking.

( 他已不再抽菸了。)

He stopped to smoke.

( 他停了下來，抽個菸。)

三. 用finish

I have finished my homework.

( 我已做完家庭作業了。)

When did you finish college ?

( 你是何時大學畢業的 ? )

四. 用cease

The patient has ceased to breathe.

( 這病人已停止呼吸了。)

Both sides have ceased fire.

( 雙方已停戰。)

五. 用close

They usually closed business at 9 pm.

( 他們通常下午9點停止營業。)

She has closed the bank account.

( 她已結清這個銀行賬戶。)

六. 用terminate

They have terminated a contract.

( 他們終止了一項合約。)

The train terminates here.

( 這路火車以這裡為終點站。)
