傻瓜英文堂 ENGLISH FOR DUMMIES

這裡所謂的「雖然」，意思是「縱使」或「即使」或「縱然」。英文表達「雖然」，常見方式有以下五種：

. 用although ( 或 though )

Although it was snowing, we reached there in time.

( 雖然下著雪，我們還是及時到達那裡。)

I don't feel hungry though I haven't had my breakfast.

( 雖然我沒吃早餐，卻不覺得餓。)

二. 用even if

Even if they have broken up, they are still good friends.

( 他們雖然分手了，彼此還是好朋友。)

 I can not satisfy her even if I have done my best.

( 雖然我已盡力而為，還是無法滿足她。)

三. 用even though

Even though l spoke louder, the old man couldn't hear me.

( 雖然我說得很大聲，這老人還是沒聽見。)

He could not avoid the car accident even though driving carefully.

( 雖然他小心駕駛，還是難以避免這場車禍。)

四.用in spite of ( the fact that )

In spite of the rain, he took a walk as usual.

( 雖然下雨，他照常去散步。)

She decided to marry him  in spite of her parents’ objection.

( 雖然父母反對，她還是決定嫁給他。)

五. 用despite

Despite the difficulties, they finished the work in time.

( 雖然困難重重，他們還是及時完成了這件工作。)

He works hard despite his age.

( 雖然年紀大了，他還是努力工作。)
